Moroccan Sands Travel is a small company based in Marrakech. We are a group of local individuals that have many years of experience in Morocco's tourism industry, working with multiple companies. We have participated in hundreds of tours throughout Morocco, welcoming guests from all over the world as well as locals. In 2024 we formed our company to better cater to our guests, our goal is to provide private and small group tours, currently being offered in English and French. We want our guests to have a personalized, relaxed, and memorable travel experience. 

Currently we offer a specially curated selection of single-day trips and multi-day tours, to highlight some of the most popular and quintessential activities that one should experience while in Morocco. 3 Day Sahara Desert Tour (Marrakech to Merzouga)

Experience Age-old Culture And Awe-inspiring Mystical Landscapes

Departing from Marrakech at 8:00 am, we will explore the southern Sahara. Along the way we will experience Morocco's warm people, its rich culture and history, and be mesmerized by its stunning natural beauty. Traveling across the High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi n'Tichka Pass, we will make short stops to immerse ourselves in the breathtaking landscapes, providing ample opportunities to take photos along the way. We start with a visit the timeless and magnificent Aït Ben Haddou Kasbah, a 16th century fortress, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. Many big movies have been filmed here, including ‘Gladiator’, ‘Laurence of Arabia’ and ‘Kingdom of Heaven.’ We have lunch at Aït Benhaddou Kasbah or in Ouarzazate – the capital city of cinema in Africa. We then continue our scenic drive through the Valley of the Roses and the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. We spend the night in Boumalne Dades. Wake up early to take in the impressive beauty around you. After breakfast we travel towards Todgha (Todra) Gorges to visit the spectacular Todra Gorges, a natural phenomenon of limestone canyons with rock faces towering over 500 feet. After a refreshing stop, we continue our drive to the charming oasis town of Tinghir. Finally we drive to Merzouga, the gateway to Morocco’s Sahara Desert, journeying through Erg Chebbi. In the late afternoon, we begin our camel trek into the Saharan dunes, observing mesmerizing desert landscapes before arriving at our camp. We relax with traditional mint tea with the nomads, then travel over the endless rippling dunes to experience the desert sunset. Back at the camp we enjoy a delicious Berber meal, then our hosts entertain us with traditional music around the fire, until we retire for the night in tents underneath the stars. Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the captivating sands, a once in a lifetime experience. After breakfast we travel leisurely back to Marrakech, stopping for lunch and photo opportunities. Our tour ends, but with hope that we may meet again in the future. Atlas Mountains Day Trip 

Experience Stunning Natural Beauty

As we escape the hustle and bustle of the city for the day, we embark on our journey through the Ourika Valley at 8 am. The Ourika Valley is conveniently located a short distance from Marrakech, making it an ideal and relaxing day trip. Waving goodbye to Marrakech, we travel towards the Atlas Mountains, taking in the beautiful landscape of green rolling hills and authentic 16th and 17th century Berber villages. Pass fruit orchards and vegetable terraces, cascading down the side of the mountains. Marvel and appreciate the Berbers and their efforts, who expertly raised materials up the mountainside, to construct small houses and set up agriculture, in such a challenging environment. Following the Ourika River, along the valley of palm trees, we journey past fruit orchards, tiny villages, and other sites to stir your senses. We will stop en route in some villages so that you can meet locals or enjoy a roaddside souk. Making our way to Setti Fatma and its 7 waterfalls, admire the flourishing greenery. Upon arrival you can participate in an optional guided hike, or relax by the river to enjoy your serene surroundings against the backdrop of the High Atlas Mountains. Ouzoud Waterfalls Day Trip

Become One With Nature And Relax

Saying goodbye to Marrakech at 8:00 am we travel towards Ouzoud, driving through the High Atlas Mountains in the province of Azilal. Azilal city, in the province of Azilal, holds its place culturally and historically as a meeting place for various Amazigh tribes to gather for trade. Over the course of our journey, we will pass through many villages, allowing us to observe and appreciate the varied landscapes and unique cultures. Upon arriving at Ouzoud Waterfalls you will be captivated by its majestic beauty, Ouzoud is the highest waterfall in North Africa, rising 110 m high. Take a leisurely hike through a landscape of rolling foothills and olive groves, ejnoying the local flora and fauna. After crossing the river enjoy a delicious lunch on the water's edge, as you take in the beautiful scenery around you, enjoying the many sights and soundds. You will have 3-4 hours to explore your surreal surroundings. You can choose to take a local guided tour, enjoy a refreshing swim in the river, or make friends with the Barbary Apes living in their natural habitat. We will be back in Marrakech in the late afternoon, refreshed and relaxed. We continue our journey to Zagora, making our way to the windswept dunes for a sunset camel ride, and observe the mesmerizing desert landscapes before arriving at our camp. We relax with traditional mint tea together with our nomad hosts. We are then treated to a delicious Berber meal, after which, our hosts entertain us with traditional music around the fire until we retire for the night in tents underneath the stars. Wake early morning for a typical Berber breakfast before watching the sunrise from the back of your camel, in the dunes. We then board the van and take the road back to Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains, stopping for lunch and photo opportunities, arriving in Marrakech in the early evening. Essaouira Day Trip

Sand, Sea, and UNESCO World Heritage

We leave Marrakech at 8:00 am, for an enjoyable day by the sea. Essaouira was originally a Phoenician trading settlement as it was an important transit point in the Atlantic Ocean, the Phoenicians were followed by Cretans, Greeks, and Romans. Today we will experience the still bustling port city of Essaouira and its UNESCO World Heritage Site designated old medina. During our relaxing drive along the Atlantic coast, we will enjoy the varied sights and sounds of the journey. We will stop for photo opportunities and refreshment breaks. En route to Essaouira we visit an Aragan Oil Cooperative, we will meet the women involved and observe them at work. There will be time to share a snack with the women of the cooperative, and to purchase authentic and pure argan oil products in support of the women. Upon arrival in Essaouira, the windiest coastal city in Africa, you will have 3-4 hours of free time. Explore the lively souks in the UNESCO designated old medina, take a refreshing walk along the 10 km beach, wander along the beautiful and historical city walls. When you are ready for lunch, peruse the local fish market, before indulging in a delicious meal of the day's fresh catch. After an relaxing and enjoyable day, we will be back in Marrakech in the late afternoon.
